ENGLISH TRANSLATION
A sound ceremony where metal meets memory, identity and a nature that seems to observe human beings long before they learned to name things. Here the riffs do not only function as sounds, they are branches breaking under a blackened sky, stones hit by an ancestral storm, roots that cross the cement of a modernity that pretends to cover everything, the storm advances with a force that does not need to be disguised as brutality, its power is born precisely from that tension between the ancestral and the contemporary.
ÜL has a profoundly telluric atmosphere, there are moments when it seems that the entire forest becomes a sounding board and that each riff drags with it earth, wind, humidity and memory, but Mawiza does not turn that cultural dimension into a simple aesthetic decoration, he uses it as the backbone of a proposal where identity and resistance acquire musical form.
The voice emerges as a rough, almost ritualistic presence, facing instrumentations that alternate forcefulness and atmospheric spaces full of the din of daily struggle, the result does not seek the comfort of the listener, on the contrary, it forces you to enter a territory where certainties begin to lose their contours.
And it is precisely there where ÜL acquires greater strength, it does not ask permission to exist, it stands in front of a culture that has historically tried to silence, absorb or turn into a commodity what it does not understand, and responds with metal not through nostalgia, but through presence.
There is an inevitable political dimension, but it never feels like a pamphlet artificially pasted on each track, on the contrary, it is embedded in the very matter of the album. Earth, language, memory and resistance are all part of the same organism, each passage seems to remind us that identity is not a relic enclosed in a glass case, but something that continues to breathe as long as someone is willing to defend it.
Musically, Mawiza manages to make his roots not function as an anchor but as roots of a tree that breaks the pavement from below, metal serves here as a language of confrontation, but also as a territory of reconstruction, there is no obvious need to demonstrate brutality at every second, there is something more interesting, a will to build a recognizable atmosphere, its own and full of meaning.
ÜL is, in short, an album that smells of the forest after the rain and of earth stirred by hands that refuse to forget, an album where the past does not appear as a ghost, but as a force still awake. Mawiza does not sing from the ruins of an extinguished memory, she sings from a root that never stopped growing and when that root goes through the concrete, the concrete is the one that ends up cracking.
