ENGLISH
In the age of apathy, where comfort blinds the eyes, we will rise from the ashes, reclaiming what time denies us. Echoes that resonate hollows in our souls, as we tread the sacred ground that has withered it for centuries, an incalculable heritage that clouds the eyes, becoming stony, the whispers that once prowled have forgotten those the ancient ones and carried by the wind that are lost in the horizon of time. «In an age where roots are unraveling and essence is lost through our fingers, we will rise from the ashes, shadows and from the sky, spirits remain in constant defiance lifting us up to see where civilizations died«.
Amidst The Ruins contains an absolutely mesmerizing atmosphere, the melodies rise with the impulse of nature among the company that emerges serenely from every corner of the planet, each note is made in such a well-realized way that it is impossible not to enter that world created by Saor, the attention to the melody becomes unwavering. The album takes us to immerse ourselves in dark moments where the fulminant gallop takes full advantage of the developed textures, returning to the dynamic and not at all static album. Cold winds converge with moments full of warmth, like an autumn day when the sun is hot enough, but the wind coming from those icy places is the owner of the arborary.
At times the horizon may look a bit flat, but rarely is the same texture reused when the landscape takes movement and that horizon once again has different sinuosity. The songs are busy, always in motion, change, and don\’t misuse iteration, as it\’s not simply a matter of repeating the above to attempt a sense of hypnosis, but of intelligently flowing forward through the movements of each piece. The atmosphere created by Saor is incredibly powerful, the fusion of Black Metal with Folk and Atmospheric make the album at times dizzying, flooded by melodic riffs, the constant sensation of a crescendo, it feels from the beginning like a serene walk, while the wind and rain hits your face, returning each step more and you give free rein to a walk that has no end, feeling how the grass sneaks through your limbs, the wet ground flowing through your bare feet.
Amidst The Ruins is a very well-crafted work, where the various textures and sounds take you back to times gone by, where the defense of the land was determined in bloody battles. And that\’s what Saor remembers, it\’s like being on the plain of Bannockburn, after the arduous and bloody fighting, walking exhausted on the banks of Bannock Creek and wiping the face stained by the blood of the enemy. Few musicians have the ability to conjure up such vivid images from the start, and in Amidst the Ruins atmospheric nature has been used to convey a strong visual image that fills the worldview, like a song that freely takes flight to shout freedom by the wind. Amidst The Ruins refreshes the genre, giving us a very insightful vision, offering a masterful mix of Black Metal and Folk, with all the moods that serve to create an atmosphere that immerses us in an attractive and at the same time creepy vision.
Based on the chronicles of yesteryear, this album is born as a timeless sentinel in the midst of the sands of time. The visionary has skillfully woven threads of dissonance where he contrasts modern life with the rich tapestry of Scottish tradition, consecrating the enigmatic contrast between the vestiges of a glorious past and the menacing reach of the present. In the mind resonates a work that evokes with the resonance of ruined structures, forgotten roads, rain in the hair, with the cold beating, its melodies impregnated with reverence for the sacred land and a lament for the disconnection forged by innocuous modernity. The raging instrumentation coupled with the versatile melodies puts us squarely in the heart of a violent and bloody battle in the lush hills of ancient Scotland. The thunderous vocals echo the screams of the offensive of damned warriors and the tireless pounding recalls the sound of mutilated bodies falling on a baleful field.
Saor gives us a fateful atmosphere that makes this environment devastated by war palpable, but which has calm moments where taking a breath is necessary to reconnect with the wind, rain and ice. The course of Amidst the Ruins never loses its conceptual focus, in addition, the album is dynamic, achieving a narrative sound that flows continuously. The production of the album is raw, adding a certain cinematographic element, giving it greater vigor. Due to Saor\’s outstanding musicality, the creative use of Folk and the tone of the composition, we will find an atmosphere that will smear us with past evocations, of a remote time, transporting us to the steep and green Scottish hills, filling us with warrior pretensions, while we wield the sword, riding down those steep slopes to hunt down the cowardly enemy who mails through his miserable life.
«In the jungle embrace, the one where sage takes over our senses is where we find our cure for the penitent pain that lodges under our chest, the leaves fall covering our bodies where our dreams endure. Follow the singing of the trees, forest of healing grace, leading the way to our sanctuary, our sacred home«
